Witchampton CofE First School

Religious Education

R.E. in school is taught using the Dorset SACRE agreed syllabus 2011. Children are helped to develop an understanding of Christianity, its history and importance in the everyday life of Christians.

We celebrate the main Festivals of the Church’s year through our collective worship and as part of our two year rolling programme for RE; we also visit the Church for special services linked to these.

Children are introduced to other world faiths and are encouraged to respect the beliefs and practices of others and to become aware of values we all share. In this way they not only learn about religion but learn from it as children begin to make links to their and others' experiences of life.

Parents do have a right to withdraw children from Religious Education and Collective Worship and should discuss any reservations they may have with the Head of School.
